Command Master Chief Huben L. Phillips enlisted in June 1989 as a hospital corpsman and completed basic training at Recruit Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois.

His academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science from Touro University International. He is an honor graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Command Leadership School, Executive Leadership Symposium, Navy Senior Leader Seminar and National Defense University KEYSTONE Senior Enlisted Leader Course.

Phillips’ warfare qualifications include Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist as well as the Fleet Marine Force Ribbon.

His personal decorations include: Legion of Merit (2 awards); Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards); Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 Awards); the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards); the Combat Action Ribbon; two Battle Efficiency Ribbons; 1996 NAACP Far East Man of the Year; and numerous  other unit and campaign awards.
